Bet the color loss is due to a small-bit alpha channel being used on the texture patch. Small-bit alpha's do that. What looked like a nicely blended paint effort in your paint program will look quite differently when exported w/the alpha: It will be splotchy, with no smooth shade transisitions.

Bummer.

Mike:

Why not the problem to Marc's "Painting & Skinning" forum and see if he has a workaround?

QUOTE(Mike @ Jun 24 2004, 04:22 AM)
my recent reinstall of Shape File Manager (which can fix that) won't decompress the .s files as it once did.  Another frustration.

Mike,

I could not decompress the .s file of the NA caboose with SFM either. "RouteRiter" did it.

Cheers, and looking forward to more of your works! smile.gif

Hi Mike

Nice work though - keep it up!

Regarding Shape File Manager and being unable to decompress the .s files, have you checked the "Properties" value of the .s file(s) in question? When I was tinkering with the railheight values I had the same problem until I checked this - you need to uncheck the Read-only box. That should solve it wink.gif

Hope this helps (unless of course you've already tried this! unsure.gif )

Cheers
Ken

That certainly looks much better Mike. Excellent job! I was going to post some changes that I made to my own reskins of passenger cars (got rid of the crappy blue) but they kind of look a lot like your version now, so not sure if I will or not. Strange how much they do resemble each other now. That's ok though, I hadn't planned to do anything but run them on my own computer anyway.

Again, nice job! wink.gif
