Hello,

I wonder if someone might tell me if Amtrak passes this area of the Sherman Hill route ?

Thanks in advance

Only when diverted from other lines. That, and the Frontier Days passenger run each year, Sherman Hill is otherwise exclusively freight.

Cheers!

We rode AMTRAK's California Zephyr back in 1981 from Chicago to Oakland. Leaving Denver we traveled North to Borie, then West over UP to The SP connection. Borie was a stop for passengers to and from Cheyenne, and a bus transferred the passengers. This was the route until the Rio Grande allowed the Zephyr to operate over their tracks, the original route of this train.

Well, talk about timely events...

Don't put your AMTK consist away just yet.  AMTK California Zephyr did indeed transit the hill -- two days ago!

For the past week or so, the California Zephyr has been running through Wyoming because of track work between Moffet Tunnel and Grand Junction.

So, there's a reason to run your trains in the area.

Cheerio.
