Most people wage a warfare AGAINST weeds. I'm trying to create them!

The problem is that undergrowth is quite common in this region. I know it's nigh impossible to truly and genuinely reflect reality in MSTS... at it's best MSTS is a selection of compromises. However, I at least wanted to reflect SOME undergrowth.

Besides, that Garber guy's wink.gif next route just keeps getting better and better looking when viewing his Cumberland pics... so I HAD to do sumpthin!! laugh.gif

Sooooo.... below you'll see a quickie RE pic of my first efforts at creating some undergrowth objects. I expect there will be more such objects and placements to come. blink.gif

And here's what I'm talking about. I offer the following 2 pics taken this morning while out workin'...

You have some good looking weed there and great reference photos from the real world as well. A little trackside vegetation really adds to a route.

OOoooo! That was a good one, Rodster!

Thanks for the offer. You've got a good start on some fine weeds. Typically, us commercial developers have to stay "in-house", so to speak. That is, if I take the photo, then I know where the texture came from so no EULA worries.

What a wise guy. biggrin.gif

Frankly, I guess it is time to get out and get more weed/tree textures, photoshop the target images, create the masks, etc, etc... sad.gif

Creating foliage is one of the more tedious projects of route building.

Talk to ya'll later!

Andre,
The shape file isn't mine, I only photo textured the shape, and working on the final alpha channel. However, if you like, I can send you the photo I took of the grass on my front yard, and you may use it for your upcomming routes. As for the EULA. Seems it's just a photo, you have full permission to use it. I won't ever change my mind because your work on routes is amazing!

Oh yea.. If you also like some tree lines, I can send ya a photo of the tree section that I also took, If your interested.

Andre,

What route is that first pic from; is it A&O or a new project ?

Hi Bob.

It's from a totally new route I'm working on as I can. It's quite different from anything I've done yet:

* Steep grades (4%).
* Spectacular mountain scenery.
* Based on Ozark prototypes.
* Features a zinc mining region.
* Set in the boom times of the 1890s (1893).
* Has connecting RRs on each end to capitilize on bridge traffic.
* Also connects with a third railroad for interesting interchange traffic.

There are many pics of it here at my VSC forums, do a search for the "Ozark Northern" route.

Thanks for your interest!
