Hi Marc,
I downloaded and installed the V3 ATSF F7 set and the V3 BETA passenger set a couple of weeks ago. They are great! Nice work. These make up my favorite consists.

I have noticed some bugs when driving these on the NEC, mainly the pass. set.

Whenever I run a consist of the pass. set cars, pulled by any 3D Trains F7 set, including the V3 ATSF units, the consist uncouples behind the baggage car, which leaves me with an ABBA pulling a baggage car.

The first time this occured I was in "Explore Route" southbound out of Wilmington just shy of mile post 55.5 at 73mph. This was with the V3 ATSF F7ABBA pulling the full set of beta 3 pass. set. This has happened without fail at this location at a speed in excess of 65Mph, even with a reskinned V2 demo F7. However, with the V2 the consist uncouples between the B units.

There was an occasion when I was in an "Activity" departing Washington for Baltimore driving at about 45mph I got a pop up that said the activity had ended because a coupler broke.

Just the other day I was again southbound out of Wilmington, as I neared milepost 55.5 I slowed to around 61 mph and the train didn't uncouple. However, a little later as I approached Baltimore, about 8 miles out, and after slowing to 45mph, the train uncoupled at the baggage car, then cars derailed and the activity ended.

These events occur in Explore Route or in an Activity.

I have found that when I run a consist of the V3 beta pass. pulled by a drivable set of 2 Genesis P42's there are no problems. I can complete the trip, north or south, at speeds over 98 mph, with, or without traffic.

I hope that this bug report will help you in improving your already excellent products, and that's what BETAs are for, right?

Thanks,
Tim

Tim,

This is a microsoft problem.
Download my program EngMod from www.train-sim.com and change ALL the coupler values to a higher value.

Hi Tim,

Thanks for the info. As Derek ponted out, some fixes to the couplers might be needed because of problems in the route. The couplers might not be breaking on the P42's because their coupler values are set higher or to an unbreakable setting. Nevertheless, I'll continue to tweak the files on both the F's and passenger set to ensure things run as smooth as possible for all. Thanks again. smile.gif

Cheers!

Hi Guys,

I have followed your advice and raised the settings of, what I believe are, the couplers in both the passenger cars and the v3 ATSF F7's, I hope I have edited the correct data in the .eng and .wag files. This appears to have resolved some of the problem. They are no longer uncoupling at the 55.5 mile post on NEC route. However, they still uncouple at about the 94.5 mile post.

It is clear to me now that this is a Microsoft problem, because I have tried this same route with the Amtrak F7 set and the 1970's era Amtrak passenger cars I downloaded from "Train-Sim.com". They too uncoupled at 55.5. This was at 83 mph.

Derek, I downloaded and installed the EngMod program you suggested from the download site. Maybe its just me, but I did not find any area to allow me to adjust the couplers. All adjustments I've made have been by going directly to, and manually editing the .eng and .wag files. This is why I said I hope I went to the correct location in the correct files.

If you have any further suggestions, please post them. I will be back.

Marc, I have downloaded and installed the ATSF F7 Super Pack. I am looking forward to running them in MSTS.

Thanks again guys. Keep up the good work. cool.gif
