I just purchased the complete download package for Canton-Suddenly-Thompson, but the email notice after payment only included download instructions for canton and suddenly (and of course extra activities, rollingstock, the suddenly upgrade, and the manual). Is Thompson included in the Suddenly upgrade, or did I get the wrong email message? I don't want to do the installation until I know that I have all of the elements needed for a complete install.

Thanks in advance for you kind feedback.

*puts on customer service hat*

You were sent the wrong email message and the appropriate one has been sent.

Rich,

Thanks for the hyper-fast response. That is truly customer service. Much appreciated.

Since the new email only includes the 3 route pieces and the rolling stock, is the Thompson upgrade still needed, or the upgrade for Suddenly?

Just a note: I have been train simming almost since the release of MSTS, probably more quietly than some, but working at it steadily over the years none the less. There are few routes that I haven't tried, and many I have removed. The early Garber routes, and especially Ohio Rail, were probably most instrumental in keeping me interested and challenged. In all these routes there was instructional value in addition to train running experiences. Much like Port Ogden, working through some of the early glitches along with the developers helped me to learn a lot about the inner workings of MSTS, and your editor handbook was really essential in this process. Thanks for your contributions and your "usually" positive and optimistic view of the hobby and its many opportunities. I'm sure that this route will do nothing but add to my estimation of your value to the train sim community. Thanks again with the greatest of appreciation.

Gee, I'm getting confused here myself. Just kidding.

You got everything there you need. But let's do a quick review anyway.

First, the route files. Install in this order:

Canton
Suddenly
Thompson

Second, the rollingstock files. Install in this order:

Canton Rollingstock 3a
Canton Rollingstock 3b
Canton Rollingstock 3c

That's all there is to it. However, there is a Thompson patch and another 8 activities you can install after doing the above installs. See the update section of this forum for those.

Now to answer your question:

I think the confusion comes from for some people where they are familiar with these products and think of them as sold separately (some assembly required tongue.gif ). But when they see the name Canton-Suddenly-Thompson they are thinking its a whole different animal. No, they are the same. Whether you purchase the sections separately or in a bundle like you did, they are the same. Even the CD is exactly the same as the downloads. No difference. The only reason for the CD is because many folks are still on dial-up and it would be risky or take too long to download the entire route content.

So what you got is Canton, the Suddenly expansion and the Thompson expansion. The rollingstock is graciously donated by Dick Cowen and his many minions of helpers who have refined and beta the rollingstock so you get a complete and immersive setting for railroading. So you got everything. wink.gif
