Having been granted a cab ride with A&O Extra 56 East, our intrepid railfan/photographer decided
to get a few shots of the meet with Extra 413 West at Pender from a slightly different angle.
So, he climbed to the top of the first covered hopper just in time to setup for a shot as
X413 West approached.

In the next shot, the 413 approaches the crossing.

And finally, X413 West rumbles by.
I guess Ol' Coonskin was so surprised to see a photographer atop the hopper car
that he didn't even wave!!!
laming
"Crazy railfans!"

(Mutters Coonskin.)

Nice job Tom! Yeah, Coonskin, you might see a real railfan just about anywhere. Just don't fall off of that thing now Tom. Would hate to lose you! laugh.gif unsure.gif ph34r.gif sad.gif wink.gif

At a recent get together of KCS fans...several of us heard over the scanner a new name for railfans.....Shutterbugs. It took the third time of hearing the name to figure out the crews (of two meeting trains) were talking about us railfans. laugh.gif

We called them "Railheads" on the NYSW.

John Norwood of the D&RGW used to refer to us as "those train nuts," then he found out he could write books for the "nuts" and make money. laugh.gif

Back in '82, we had a meet at Leaman Place between our Pennsy 4-4-0, No. 1223 and a GG1 electric done up in brunswick green and pinstripes. There was some yokel running around with a stepladder - to achieve better photos, I presume. We were shooting the breeze with the Amtrak crew when somebody said, "Look at that foamer!" We all laughed at the term, never having heard it before.
