Full Version: AI train anomaly in StLNA?

Hi

Was wondering if anyone had experienced the following. In the 'Southbound' Activity of the StLNA, (5 I think) there is a passing event at Beaver with Extra 4. I noticed that when it passed me, its pistons and gear were going like the clappers, despite its slow speed, like a geared NG engine. Very strange. Not seen this before with AI engines, on other routes.

Also a question. Is it a bug in MSTS that AI steam engines that are stopped, make no smoke?

I ask this because I've fiddled with my MSTS so much, that I may have corrupted something. Then again... Could just be KuJu wink.gif

Cheers

All the AI on the North Arkansas are EPA Tier 2 compliant when they are sitting still. laugh.gif The fireman seems to ignore the memo about clear stacks the rest of the time. wink.gif I've also noticed that when AI trains pass me on a siding...the power it "getting it"...but going nowhere. You'd think ol' Coonskin would back out of the throttle long enough to get the drivers to stop spinning. You know he's king of that subdivision. laugh.gif laugh.gif

All AI steam engines that are not part of the player consist will show this sort of activity, unless they are using a modified eng file.

I think you will find that this has been taken care of in the new STL&NA equipment pack when it is released.

There is a fix for the AI Engine's rapidly spinning drivers,
I'll see if I can find it in my files.

The fix will only fix an engine used in AI useage. Such a fixed engine will have SLOW drivers if used in the player consist.

This is the reason there will be 3 different eng files for each locomotive that will be in the StLNA Equip Pack:

* Player
* AI
* Helper

The AI will need to be used for just that: AI trains.

The "Helper" will need to be used if the Player loco is to interact with it.

See the following post for a fix for an AI engine

Will not work for a helper though

That fixed it very nicely... Many Thanks
