Can we get some authority to depart the great city of Pender? We've met that rock train with coonskin, but need authority to proceed. (Grain Haul Activity #11)

And coonskin, you scared the crap outta me when you asked if I was in the "clear" at Pender. I got so excited I hit the Esc key and jumped off the engine, thought mebbe I should have been on the siding. But not so.

And my faithful brakeman never told me where to stop for water in Grandview, or even told me where the store was.

Otherwise, a fun activity.

You're up to #11 already???

Wow! I'm still workin' thru #7!!

I skipped 8 9 and 10, at least for now. And at the rate I'm going, I'll make 24 (a winter/snow) activity, by next winter.

BTW, I complained about the lack of a grade profile. I forgot that there is a program, MSTS Route Profile Generator, in the train-sim utility library IIRC, which will do this. The station locations aren't identified, but are easy to figure out.

On #7, did you need more bailing wire to get up the hill to Seligman? I stalled just short of the overpass. I didn't double, I had already done the drill at the end of Haulin West (#4).

Nope; bailin' wire won't help.
I didn't even get THAT far!
I was pretty sure I wouldn't make it, so I shut-down early an' jus' doubled the hill.

I guess I have a little advantage running the A&O 'cause I've been running the ol' StL&NA for about 6 months,
and kinda learned the route and the profile pretty well.
(If ya think it's tough with Alco C420s, try it with an old 4-6-0 teakettle!!!) wink.gif

Me, too. sad.gif I was beginning to think I'd make it, but came up just short.

I just completed #8 last night. Looks like I'm scheduled for the Superior Switcher next.

So far I've had a ball with these activities, although they sure are keeping me from getting anything useful done! biggrin.gif

I was thinking the same thing after Coonskin passed. So I sat there for a couple of minutes. Nothing happened so I ASSUMED it was ok. Glad there wasn't anything else coming.

You should be familiar with Hectors from a previous activity. But I obviously didn't stop in the proper spot that time cause I never "completed" that run.

It probably would have helped if I'd used a timed pop-up conferring authority right after the passage of the opposing traffic.

Oh well... blush.gif
