Andre, I have found something odd with the horn sound of the switcher in the tutorial activity. It sounded fine 2 or 3 times but after that went silent on me. I know some sounds cutting out is due to the 'sounds quantity setting' in options but I already have this set down off maximum because setting it at max caused sounds to cut out on another (British) commercial diesel.
Strangely enough the horn refused to sound only AFTER I had used the bell...? I'm using a raildriver and wonder if that has anything to do with it.
Currently I'm sitting among a pile of boxes as we pack to move house so I don't get much computer time these days - so far I have only had 1 hour to download, install the route and run this first activity, so I may come across a solution later but if you or nayone has any input on this issue I'd appreciate that.

I too note the horn may cease sounding after unknown circumstances in the exterior views. Odd thing is, I can bring the view back inside the cab, blow the horn a cycle or two... and the horn sound is back in the exterior views!
Perhaps this is a memory issue for my low-end machine? I only have 256meg of Ram, and I note that when my machine is being taxed, MSTS fails to run some sound streams.
Haven't a clue what this is. More input from other users?

This could be a sound region deal. We know that MSTS limits the number of sounds. Could it be that in certain area's there are to many sounds in the external view and it doesn't play? Just a thought.

If it is an issue with the number of sounds, sometimes this can help:
