As a new recruit to the A&O I'd like to add my appreciation the many others; it just goes to show that good things come in small packages. I've only done the first couple of runs but I'm already hooked. Thank you Andre and Gaeton for 185MB of total immersion! Just one teeny-weeny thing, I noticed on my first day of route familiarisation (very first activity) that the small switcher (T6?) seems to float slightly above the rails. Is this an ingenious ploy to avoid wear and tear on the wheels wink.gif or perhaps a glitch in the S file? Is there a fix or a patch?

Bravo V-Scale!

Hi Rabid

I have not this problem here

When i build the 3D i put the wheels just a little bit higher of the origin for the wheels don't run
inside tracks

Have you set full detail in MSTS , because MSTS cut the rail if you are in low detail and the wheels look
in the air

Hi Rabid!

Welcome to the VSC forums, and VSC's way of doing routes! Gaetan and I are both very glad you're enjoying the A&O Sub!

Hint: If you want to maximize the fun, run the activities sequentially as numbered... some of the activities refer to the previous activity and you'll miss out on some of the fun if you skip around!

Have fun!

Yes I have all sliders on full and everything on except high detail shadows. I'll post a screenie when I get some quality time on my pc. laugh.gif

Ok, I took a shot at rail level to show you that on my system it's the flanges that touch the rails, whilst the treads are above.

Since this started out about adding praise, I'll add some more.

I really appreciate all of the different skins for the cars on the route. I realize that there isn't a huge number of cars on this route, but it's so much nicer seeing a bunch of different cars than all the same one. I don't know how many different covered hoppers there are on the the route, but it sure SEEMS like a lot. And cars that you think are the same actually have different numbers on the sides. Very nice.

It's the little things that really add up.

If I never see a string of default cars again I'd be happy. It's painfully obvious that the people who first wrote MSTS had no idea what a train actually looked like.

That patch works great for the wheels, thanks!

Gaetan, merci bcp pour ta réponse rapide, No 14 a encore les pieds sur terre!

By the way I did have an initial problem installing the updates (I'm running Windows XP Pro SP2).

I got an error message running the "setup.exe" of Gaetan's installer:
IPB Image

After a search around I found the fix so if anyone else gets it, this is what you do...
You need to make sure all of the following files exist in "C:\Windows\System32":

Autoexec.nt
Command.com
Config.nt

If any are missing you need to copy them from "C:\Windows\Repair".
Afterwards reboot, and the installer should work from then on.

Also take care if like me you don't use the default path for your MSTS installation.
The installer proposes "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Train Simulator\Trains" as the installation path.
If you modify this to your MSTS installation path don't leave out the "...\Trains" folder at the end or the patch(es) won't install correctly.
(as a consequence the patch will be installed into "...\Train Simulator\Trainset" instead of the correct "...\Train Simulator\Trains\Trainset")

Hope this helps,
David.
