My buddy and I took the day off to go rail fanning. We started out in Seligman. At first we wondered why the locos were just sitting here.

Then we heard the train in the distance. Of course, as I shot this picture I realized it was the last on the roll. Why does this always happen?

My buddy was on the other side of the tracks.

He ASSUMED that I was going to get some good shots where I was, so he tried to get this artsy fartsy shot. Too bad he pushed the release just an instant too soon.

After the train passed through Seligman we hopped in the car. My buddy said "Lets go down to Beaver. I've got an idea for a photo." I thought he wanted a shot of the train on the trestle. Silly me. Don't tell the railroad that we walked across that trestle.

We have a friend who's gonna hire out on the A&M. That's how we knew when the train was gonna be running today. Here's a shot on our way to Freeman.

Here's the train just coming into Freeman.

We watched the crew do their work here in Freeman.

Still at Freeman.

We hustled up to Urbanette. But the backroads 'round here don't really lend themselves to making good time. So the crew had already dropped the train by the time we got there.

Based on the "stenciling" that the A&M paint shop did, I don't think I'll be asking for their help on any of my painting projects.

Like I said, it was a tough day. It would have been so much more fun to be in the office instead.

I agree! Great shots! There's so many A&O pics poppin' up here and there that I can't keep up with them! Cool.
BTW: I always thought the A&M did the honors with the spray cans... but in a pic I saw by Tim Baldwin... it showed a C420 on the D&H getting ready to be shipped to the A&M. You know what I saw? You guessed! Spray painted shields! It was the D&H that did the defiling!

But of course. What other explanation could there be?

actually, it would have been Guilford that performed the desecration prior to casting off the D&H...

Ah yes, thanks for that point of order!
GUILFORD was the guilty party!
Oh well, their loss (Alco's in New York/New England), our gain (Alco's in the Ozarks)!

Well there, that explains it in a nutshell. If Guilford had anything to do with those engines, I am surprised they even run or have any paint left on them.....OK, so I am not a big fan of Guilford. But I have my reasons! Being a New England boy, I think they just about ruined the railroading in Northern New England! And that's all I have to say about that!
