Well, it is a little bit strange being back here after so many years. Had the place changed - and some! If'n it wasn't for the shape of the hills, I wouldn't have known I was at Eureka.
The drive down was slow, mainly 'cause I kept asking Brad to stop the car so as I could have a good look around.
Well, when we arrived, of course it was raining (did it always rain here?). Brad wasn't too pleased, 'specially when I asked him to drag himself up those hills just so he could take some photographs for me...

Well he did it, but he got a bit puffed, and wetter than anything I had seen in a long time.
Did I say puffed - he was wheezing like he'd been smokin' 40 a day for 40 years!

Still, he got the photo's and I guess that's something.
Now surely this can't be the same hut that they just painted - and the old watertower has gone (and that coaling stage). Heh, surprised they didn't put the diesel line down to here, just for old times sakes.

But that new tin shack was a surprise, and I could see they weren't too careful about what they did with the empties!

Now, I could see that the A&O weren't really much better than what had gone before. What had been stacks of wood & ties, had become old Oil Drums, just waitin' to be rolled into the creek.

And what had happened to that big depot? - this new thing wasn't much bigger than the privvy we used to have outside in the back yard.

The old wooden bridge had gone, but the Holler looked to be much the same

'Ceptin the cooperage had gone, and there were one or two unusual businesses back down the line.
Didn't look like there had been too much trade in ties though - I was sure that I recognised some of those stacks!

No last train out for me this time though, just a ride in Brad's car - comfortable, but kinda sad thinkin' of all that had gone....
But hey - you should see the Holler now - take a look at the second thread!

Oil drum down by the crick?

What are you talking about?

We don't know anything about any oil drums around here.
