Wow, one flag flare unit, 2 E-units and 24 PASSENGER CARS!!!
Thats 1/3 of a mile of passenger train for ya! Not clear on if it is a
customers special or police officers special (or both) but the
train will overnight briefly in Oakland on Wednesday night. Not
sure where they will actually put it in West Oakland but the
abandoned former Amtrak coach yard is wide open with Amtrak
moving to their new facility last week.
Get up early on Thursday if you want to chase this down the
coast and pray for some sun...

Jon: You might not want to wave your fists at this train. It is 24
cars full of Police Officers!
SCBLC-09 is called a Police Special. Pulled by UP3951, 949,
951
It will overnight in Oakland, leaving there at 4:15, arrive SLO
11:15 and leave 11:20, arrive LATC at 17:00 according to the
computer. Your times are about an hour earlier and from the
computer, so who knows??
24 cars is most of the UP business fleet, many of which we have
not seen in the west or coastline. Plan on getting photos. This
will be one BIG yellow train.

More info on the special.
the train lineup is as follows now, I suspect the power will run
around the train at Oakland and have the 951 lead. Also, now the
Fox River inspection car is behind the loco and a Dome is on the
rear, more likely the Fox River will be on the tail. This assumes
the train is full down the coast and not empty, being spotted in
LATC for a later move. This could be a deadhead move as there
is little time in the schedule for load/unload.
In any case, a BIG yellow train to photo / video in daylight on the
coast.
