Wow!!
That really looks great. I think that I've seen that design before. Is that a Western Krause Maffei?
I believe that they were known to be 'notoriously unreliable'.
Great looking model...looking forward to running that one. I just love seeing something different.

Yep that is a Krauss-Maffei and they were unreliable, one of SP's experiments.

I'm glad that I got that one right.
I live over in Reno, and I drive by the UP yard here twice a day, five days a week, and I doubt that I could tell you one locomotive from another. Though I've been known to stop at the Nugget and take a picture here and there on the way to work. I've seen what I think is a 1500 running around by our warehouse, but I would have to double check on that on.
I'm looking forward to the Truckee Railroad Dayz, and to the Portola event in September.

Well next week I will be finishing my conductor training next week by running between Roseville and Sparks.

Have you been through Reno since the shoo-fly was put into operation?
The construction company donated the rail and the ties to the V & T restoration project. The project is making a mess of things through downtown, but once the tracks are lowered, I'm going to miss the cry of those horns at night.
I'll be waving at everything moving next week...

Definitely different Erik. But looks good. You did a nice job on it. And speaking of jobs, glad to see you are finishing up your training. I know you are probably looking forward to that. Good luck Mr. Conductor and have a good run between Roseville and Sparks.

Eric,
If you get an idea of when you'll be over here, let me know, and I'll grab the camera and head down towards the yard. If you get the time, it would be nice to meet a fellow 'Simmer'. Though now you'll be doing this for real.

Thanks Lonnie. The only problem is, the big windows really show that there is no crew in the cab. Might have to work on that

Cheers,
David.

The more I see of those David, the more I like them. Very nice Job. What I would do is tint the windows and then you won't have to worry about not seeing anyone inside. Doesn't have to be tinted a whole lot but just enough so it isn't so noticeable. Just an idea. Nice work anyway. They look very good on the rails!

He would not have to tint the windows really, just have an oily sheen where the wipers have been wiping and dirt where they were not.

This is true Erik, but I like clean engines and that would make it dirty!

Can't have that. I think just tinting the windows would do the job. Just enough so you can't see inside unless you are really trying. That would keep the engines clean!

Hehehe, they are on my computer, because I clean them up myself if they are not! Sorry, just have a penchant for nice shiny clean engines! Just my own thing. Sorry. Each to their own.

Hi Ray,
I am planning to do the hood units, but they are a long way off. Have to finish off a few projects before work gets busy in a few weeks. Then I wont have a chance to scratch myself

Cheers,
David.

I suppose this isn't the first time someone's accused me of being a little crazy.

, foreign languages just happen to be a little hobby of mine, and it's a handy skill for dealing with bill collectors.

Erik,
What a jewel! I have the Rivarossi HO Version (c.1965) and an Alco Models DH643 setting over my television, and I happened to look at them over the weekend and wondered: "When will someone do the hydraulics...?" Well, I guess it won't be that far away..!

Keep sluggin'! I, for one, share your challenge: maintaining the hobby while winning the bread!
By the way, having started traversing the Cascade Route, I can see the Cal-P in my future
