For several days now I've been drooling over the beautiful 4300 class on the front page of the Sacramento Locomotive Works website, and, as fate would have it, I just read a short article on running a Southern Pacific Mountain on the "Zipper", the fast overnight route between San Francisco and Los Angeles. Ok, so much for the praise, now for the question. Will this locomotive be available as part of the CAP-P route, or will it be seperate? Either way, this is a must have for any SP steam fan.

The article is called "Zipping Down the Peninsula" and is in "Steam Glory" which was one of the Special Collectors editions of Classic Trains magazine. I think it came out back around the first of November and was only on the newsstand until Feb 3. It's not a lengthy article and was written by a young fireman on the route.

Well as a steam fan I am certainly looking forward to that release. How's your new job going by the way, Erik? Wish it wasn't keeping you away so much. Miss you on here.

Thanks Tim.........The job is pretty good so far.
I worked the hump last night. I dont know why everyone is so down on that job. I was supposed to work 8 hours, but in all actuallity I think I only worked 4 with several hour long breaks. There is only one track across the hump now and there are two crews. One crew is pulling cars out of the receiving yard for their next turn on the hill while the others are working their cut. It only takes about 15 minutes or so to pull a cut out of the receiving yard, unless you have to double a few tracks, and the rest of the time is spent sitting around waiting for the other crew to get out of your way.

Sounds like you are enjoying yourself and that is good. Could be that after a while all that sitting around gets to be old. But, in any event glad you are enjoying it and hope you will be getting a little more time to be on the forums.
You take care out there and be glad you are getting the opportunity.
