This engine is a product of the combined talents of George Mathews II, George Mathews III and the original modeler David Rowie of Australia. After we have every one's ok to release it, it will be made available in the SLW roundhouse.

That looks very cool... but for the somewhat historically challenged, what is it?

Well here is a link to the 70 tonner. It uses the GP38 cabview and sounds and the engine file needs to be tweeked a bit but other than that it is done. We will release a version 2 when the other items are done.
SP GE 70 TonnerI decided to give those of you who frequent this forum a head start on the download of this engine. We still need to add the download link to the SLW site..
Have a good night
Hi Erik
Great! I've been waiting for this one! Nice to see it released. Downloading it now - nice to be ahead of the rush
Cheers

Hi Erik,
Thanks for the download, it is a fine looking enigne. I have it with a short consist but was wondering if when V.2 comes out will it couple up closer? Right now I see a space between the engine and the first cars' coupler. Also, any suggestions for a proper looking cabview? Great new horn sound.
Thanks again,
Pinpuller

I'm pleased to hear that everyone likes it

Many thanks to George Mathews and his son for their excellent painting and texturing. That is something I have yet to master.... To fix the coupler problems, replace the size line in the .eng file with this:
Size ( 3.55826m 4.3924m 11.135m )
and the bounding box line in the .sd file with this:
ESD_Bounding_Box ( -1.77813 0.064 -5.557509 1.780131 4.3924 5.557509 )
Let me know if this fixes the problem, and dont forget to backup, backup, backup! :-)
Cheers,
David.

Hi David,
I did make the changes to correct the coupler problem and it did help a lot to bring the couplers closer together when coupling up or standing. I have noticed that it now looks like the couplers are holding by about a knuckle and when accelerating to about 15-20 mph they move apart. I only made the changes as you described but noticed that in the .eng file there are two places that have size, the other being the InertiaTensor. Should that match the 'size'?
Thanks for your help and for a great model.

Hi Pinpuller,
Ooops, looks like I missed that line. Sorry about it! The InertiaTensor line should be the same as the Size line. This is my first loco project and I'm still learning all the intricacies of the .eng file. My version has these figures and the couplers overlap slightly, and the bounding box is just behind the coupler head.

This is V.2, in case you were wondering why it looked different

Hopefully this change should fix the problem.
Cheers,
David.

Hello again David,
For your first project I'd say you have done very good. I will make the added changes, thanks. I also used a SW1200 cabview instead of the default GP38. It's not exactly right with the wrong type of side windows and the twin stacks but it'll do for now.
Thanks again,

The GE 70 Ton diesel looks good, but the .eng file needs some help. The mass line is 155t and the power is 3263kW (about 4375hp). Since a SW1200 is abou 112t and has 1200hp, it appears that a little tuning is needed (also, the friction line has the MSTS original values). Can someone with experience help? This will be a useful locomotive for anyones collection.

The engine file is one of the items we had not completed, but will be for version 2
