A couple questions about the tunnel motors sounds. I was trying to alias all of the SD40T-2's sounds to that of the UP SD40-2 sounds that came in the UP Super Set. On all of their lines in the .eng files I canhged them to read "../../Dekosoft_common/SD40/Sounds/sd40upeng.sms" Now the DRGW 5362, that is the only one that worked by this method. The rest of them, I can hear the new sounds on the outside, but on the inside, they were still the originals. Where did I go wrong.

And #2, how can I change the horn on the tunnel motors. They do not have the sound folders, so how would I go about doing this? I whipped up a couple of horns for them, but I cannot get them installed. I woula appreciate all help you people can give.

You're not hearing the right sounds in the cab because, from what I have gathered reading your message, you didn't change the interior audio line in the eng file. It's located way down at the bottom, just above the name line. Should look like this:

Sound ( "../../Dekosoft_common/SD40/Sounds/sd40upcab.sms" )

Notice it's calling a file sd40upcab.sms? That's the audio for the interior cab.

Your second question....I placed the horns in the ..Train Simulator\Trains\TRAINSET\Dekosoft_common\Horns directory. Just drop your horns into that directory and then change the names of the files called in the horn streams in both the cab and eng sms files. There are 6 entries that will need changing.

Thank you for your help. That done the trick. And one more question is, where can I locate the .sms files for the SD40T-2's at?

Do you men the original sounds or the UP ones?

GP38_common/GP40SOUND/gp40eng.sms - that is where the orginal ones are

"../../Dekosoft_common/SD40/Sounds/sd40upeng.sms" - that is where the ones that came with the UP engnes are.

NOTE: If you edit the sms files, make sure you save them with new names and the .sms extension. I substitute the horn type for UP - i.e., sd40KL5Aeng.sms would be the one I created for KL5A horn. This way you do not over write the UP one, which does use the right horn.

Dan, are you goinig to redo the other Dekosoft engines with the new horns sounds?

As new packs come out they will, indeed, use the new v2.0 sounds that include horn samples from my own collection. Sorry I didn't see this sooner Kevin. Chip and I will have to dicuss upgrading existing locomotives to use the new sounds and horns.

That would be very very nice. ATSF and SP would be good first choices.

LOL, OK....we'll see what we can do.
