Do they forget that EMD/GMD has a catalog stretching back almost 110 years? I'd love to see a GP40-2 or an SD45...not a constant parade of GEs...
Oops, was I ranting? Oh, silly me.

You have to give them some credit, after all they have made the SD40-2W, SW1500 and the updated standard SD40-2. Its way more then we got with MSTS. All they did was hand us a few crappy models and then never talk to us again.
Anyway

I'm looking forward to this. Maybe some CN paint is in order when its released

I'm not turning this into a thread about how big ditchlights are, but theirs are definitely out of scale.

They are clearly out of scale. Look at the pictures TheRock provided. The headlights and ditchlights are about the same size. Now look at the model being made for RW. See the problem?

Slightly off, yes, but considering this is a work-in-progress, I wouldn't sweat it too much. Even if released without changing, the loco would make a nice addition to RW.

The first pack will be in BNSF H1,H2,H3 and Warbonnet colors
Then later they will release a NS Virson with the NS Cab style.

Yep the rivet counters are at it over on Trainsim. It's a miracle anyone creates anything with all the senseless complaining and nit picking that goes on. Constructive criticism is one thing, however I repeat has anyone ever heard of sending someone a private message, or does the need to show off your knowledge over shadow all else? This forum is soooooo much more positive. I love it.

What sort of rivet counting would we be talking about, all I recall seeing in that thread since the first in-game screenshots was the smoothing of the fuel tank?
So I'm being called a rivet counter for disliking the way the numbers look? Wow, whats this world coming to...
I think almost all of you can agree with me that in this pic :

That the numbers look rather sharp and not blended with the textures.
That is what I mean.
The whole thing looks great and I in now way am bashing it or anything. And I know what it's like to model and do textures. I model trains and their textures for MSTS.
Please don't take my comments in the wrong way, what I was saying was purely that the way I saw the numbers were that they looked "un-blended". I suppose I could have said it in a different way.

Nat, that's not a problem with the engine, it's the way Railworks supports alpha textures. For some reason it appears they can utilize the standard quality alphas on textures but when it comes to the Automatic running numbers the system only supports 2 bit alphas. Maybe Marc or someone who is more into the development process for this simulator in particular can shed some light on the conditions...

“Test” it against what?
I’m glad to hear that they are putting attention toward the physics side of things but it’s going to take more than a “overhaul of the brake system data for the Dash9” to resemble anything close to realistic train handling physics. So say the Dash 9 gets physics improvements, what good is it if what you couple up to (the rest of train) is totally off?

Nice models, physics need work along with the desktop screen data but that was expected. The exhaust just like with the default ES44 looks like it's coming from a 2 stroke EMD in notch 8 not a 4 cycle GE.
The sounds are very good with the exception of the wheel-slip. The radio chatter is good especially the dispatcher getting keyed in.
Overall it's the best North American model to date. It would be nice to see the ES44 brought up to this level.
