V1.7 for Fort Kent now available!
As you might already be aware I've been making some slight modifications to the Fort Kent route since its release. The last changes which comprise v1.7 were sent to RS.com so its version is also 1.7 and not 1.6 as I had originally announced. This is the final - no more changes will be made after this. Please redownload the route and reinstall in whatever method you chose to do so the last time.
The 1.7 version only includes the addition of a couple of signal sets down in the Eagle Lake area. These were included only to minimize wait times as train traffic flows up and down the route. And as well, the signal at Eagle Lake Gravel was creating a minor issue in that all player traffic going into the plant (which is the only plant in Eagle Lake) would see no signal indication for several miles in the F3 box. The addition of these signals now gives you a signal indication all the way up to but not into Eagle Lake Gravel. Purely a cosmetic thing but I thought it was nice to have it.
10-20 more scenarios for Fort Kent coming soon!
While Fort Kent is being promoted as a pretty route, the thing is, it's still a route. And routes are meant to be about railroading. Typically my included routes are meant to be introductory. After Fort Kent's release the subject of AI Traffic came up and Jim Friedland got my curiosity up as he raised questions I hadn't really given all that much thought to.
So I've been working with Jim and in our discussions I came to the conclusion that while the Fort Kent Sub is probably mostly dark these days it would be best to portray the route at a busier time. And that's what has been prompting the different versions I've been subjecting you all to besides a few grammer fixes.
In as much for my own self to learn more about RW signalling and using AI Traffic, I have been creating new scenarios for the route. These are not random scenarios but grouped within the same concept of the route release that one day a week, you the engineer are dispatched to the Fort Kent Sub and do the duties in that region. I took this a step further by creating a table of which industries are handled on the one day of the week in one month. Each one day of the week is being broken down into a scenario set that represents that one day. So I'm not certain how many total scenarios will be in this package.
Anyhow, that is what's in the works presently.
BAR Scenario Pack Update!
As for the B&A scenario pack, it was finished - but a snag came up that will delay its release for awhile. Trying to test the signalling and AI traffic along with some other missteps caused me to put this project on hold slightly. It's almost done but it was getting to be too much of a juggling act to try to accomplish both things at the same time.
The Next Route!
As discussed before the next route project will be a PRR route. Presently I don't have all the details finaled but I have long wondered why the PRR wasn't as well represented as other big railroads. This is to be a joint effort involving several companies and since this is a new way of creating a route, I think its best I wait until we're all ready to make any kind of announcement. If this helps though, it's already been started with the route demmed and the track being laid - and going very quickly at that.
