While researching the Bangor & Aroostook RR archives I came across an interesting tidbit in history. A Sante Fe unit F unit (Warbonnet) once rode the rails through Fort Kent. Nonsense you say? Why right here in this very article is the untold truth of the whole affair (recreated by 3DTrains (F7 used without permission but don't tell Marc)). Well, I had the article but my dog ate it. So I and me and one of my film crews from All Aboard Film Studios located right here in this very computer journeyed through all this Global Warming snow to film this very recreation in Autumn. We braved NAN gates, AND gates, NOR gates, SNORE gates and even a transistor or two just to bring this precious memory to life again. You don't believe me!? Well, just head on over to the Fort Kent To Eagle Lake webpage at All Aboard and you just go and see for yourself the magic of Hollywood in action. Oh, I just happen to pick up a traveling band of gypsy musicians along the way (see ending credits) that provided the tune.

Look for the movie display poster in living color that looks just like this (only in color):

Nice video and music, not to mention a beautiful route and great looking 3dtrains F-Units! Congratulations, Rich! I hope that it sells well for you. flowers.gif

I once saw a Santa Fe F-unit run through Wyandotte, MI, when I was a teenager in the early 70's. It surprised the heck out of me (both the road name and engine type).

Nice video Rich. Watching that has brought home to me finally I think how graphically improved RW is over MSTS. I mean it should be, being eight or something years newer but until now I'd not really focussed on the small details such as the trucks on the locos, the ties of the track and the way the shadows fall. Very nice work, both by you in the route and by Marc on the engine.

Thanks Martin. smile.gif There's some great pics, almost photographs, done by Plethaus over at TS screenshot forum that bowled me over. It took a second for me to realize they were from the Fort Kent route. If you haven't seen these pics, they are amazing. I bet this sounds self-promoting but I mean I have no idea how to get pictures looking that photo-realistic. I'm hoping those pics will end up being posted over here in our own screenshots forum.

Thanks Rich! I thought it was easy to take amazing shots in your new route - the scenery is definitely the best stuff I've seen to date!! One thing that makes nice shots so easy there is the vegetation - it's so detailed and lifelike that you can create some very realistic shots just by parking the "camera" deep in the bushes (but not so deep that they obscure too much of your view), pointing it towards the train and voila!

I've even taken a bunch of screenshots that have no trains or consists in them at all.. the scenery is just that good! I love your "Where do those rails go?" description of the feel of this route, it's right on.

The original unresized JPEGs are even more beautiful, but unfortunately I can't post them here because of the 800x600 size limit. I can't even post the ones from Train-Sim here because they are too big also, and resizing them to that limit makes them lose too much quality.

Hi Molly,

You're right, I forgot about the size limitation. Well gee, maybe you could allow me to post them on my website then. They are very fine pictures and well, they sure grabbed my attention - shoot, I thought I had some fierce competition out there! blush.gif

Rich, I sent you an email with the unresized pics. I could certainly take some more in summer, winter, different scenarios, etc.

They are awesome folks. Huge, and man they look so lifelike! I have a pretty large monitor and when you see the pics fill up the screen like these do, it's wow! - Rich
