G10 here, and well, I will be the first to admit that I really didn't know that much about the Dixie Line when I started my "A&O a' la L&N" project. The A&O Sub, as is, is set in 1988 which means that the L&N was already 6 years gone. In fact, CSX would have been 2 years old.

So, I hit the books (or rather the internet) and after looking at just about everything I could find on the L&N, I decided to set my project back 10 years to 1978. Not really much to change on the route itself except maybe swap out the cars. If I knew how to, I would like to move the whole route over to the Tennessee/Alabama line. Perhaps around the Elk River.

Anyway, here is a shot that I don't think would have been that uncommon of a sight back then-
