Hi Benny:
Every now and then this question surfaces. I typically type a novel when trying to explain why it died. Discouragement was likely the primary reason. Some of the events leading to the discouragement:
* Excessively high track section count at Pen Argyl and I wasn't even finished with the track.
* Some techincal difficulties encountered.
* The prototype LNE suffered from lack of business. Being a model of the prototype, my Pen Argyl to Augusta section was suffering from the same malady. (In otherwords, I would put out all that work in MSTS, and when finished you would have very little to do operationally. Only the staunchest LNE fan would find interest in the released route for longer than a few weeks.)
* I offered the LNE route to a couple of very good hobbiest route devlopers for completion and release as freeware, but the offer was declined. Since then, I have discovered that my last LNE route backups are lost and/or mishandled via deletion. SO, the LNE is officially, and eternally dead, on my hard drive.
IN ADDITION: Since the LNE and other route projects, I've learned that I'm not a productive developer in that I don't have the ability to pick a route and stick with the grind all the way through to completion, especially one that has "flaws" that become apparent.
That last trait of mine is why I have "semi-retired" from commercial development with the release of the Ozark Northern. In otherwords, I make NO PROMISES that ANY THING I'm working on will ever get completed. Consider me a hobbiest that likes to tinker... and if I ever get anything completed enough to share: I will offer to those that desire it.
See? Another novel.
Maybe I need to pin a "What Happened To The LNE?" post.
