"There he goes again! Up some Arkansas holler ..."
Ah, I confess. It is Ver. 2 of the Ozark Northern I was tinkering with that night. That scene was taken up in the mountains on the "Black Mountain Lumber Company" line. (Or could be called Ozark Lumber Co.? Who knows?) Black Mountain Lumber Co. is conceived to be a sure'nuf logging concern with its own stable of Shay's, engine facilities, mill, et al.

Which was in response to what Galen said:
"Stop riding Motor Bikes..start working MSTS!! LOL!"
And I say:
Mike is correct. I NEVER take a bike trip to the Ozarks, either on dirt/dual sport machines, or the Harley Deuce, but what I don't get inspired by the beauty of the Ozarks and desire to create/work-on something in RE.
Today was no exception. Wife and I rode the Deuce from Poteau, up into the Ozarks via backroads and stuff. We ate lunch at Grandma's House cafe, which is a rustic ma & pa owned cafe that sits on the edge of the ridge overlooking one of the deep Ozark valleys. Great vista.
We ended up at Devils Den State Park before we reversed our path. Though Devils Den is a BEAUTIFUL area with some awesome switchback roads to get there, once there it was wall-to-wall people complete with crying babies, mini-traffic jams, leashed dogs taking a crap, etc, etc. Ugh.
I don't do crowds like that well (and wife is getting more like me everyday!)... so we cut our visit short... and started backtracking. On the way back, we stopped at Winslow, Arkansas... one of my all time most impressionable places of things railroading.
Now the experience at Winslow was MY kind of experience. We had the little park area by the tracks to ourselves... t'was a beautiful day (warm, clear blue sky). The wind was gently blowing and rustling the fallen leaves as we sat on the picnic tables and savored our time alone as well as me inwardly time-tripping to many, many good railroading memories I have of Winslow.
After leaving Winslow, many times while riding the backroads along the A&M nee BN nee Frisco rails... I just couldn't help but want to again try in some way to capture Ozark railroading in MSTS. In fact, I intend to do just that tonight once I finish a few things I need to attend to.
Sooo... you see... the bikes DO help!
