Hi! I thought it would be interesting to know how many simmers are actively running the NA version of RW. I have read elsewhere that the number is actually quite few. I actively run RW, but not to the exclusion of MSTS. Cheers; Chuck F.

Chuck,

I run both also biggrin.gif . Aside from Cajon Pass, RailWorks' California content is limited, though the the visual and operational capabilities leave MSTS in the dust. So, my time is split:
-If I need a dose of eye-candy, or if I want the switching to really mimic real life, then it is RailWorks. Still getting the gist of Scenario building, so much of the action is free roam with a "plan". Loading and unloading passengers and freight is powerful enhancement. Mostly running Rich Garber's Colton & Northern, mixed with Castle Rock and Cajon Pass.
-For full-blown activities, lasting up to ten (10) hours--generated by Steve Davis's Activity Generator--it is MSTS, using Cajon Pass (both versions), Feather River, Cascade Crossing, BNSF Scenic, or Tehachapi II.

My gut tells me that RailWorks is the future, and its stability is also a big plus.

I have RailWorks, but I do little with it, because activities -- err, I mean scenarios -- are so difficult to do with AI trains. I am a big fan of Steve Davis' Activity Generator, which you mentioned. I have been in contact with Steve to see if it is possible to create a SCenario Generator for RailWorks. If he succeeds, I have a feeling that RW will take off in the US. Until then, for me at least, it is a mere novelty.

I run RW only. I gave up on MSTS for the graphic and ease of route making in RW.

Good Morning:

I am still running MSTS but the amount of time I spend with it is going down each week. I am impressed with the graphics of RW but creating scenarios is a little on the hard side.
All in all I enjoy both but every time I run MSTS, the simulator is looking more and more like a toy.

Guys

What problems are you having in scenarios? I may be able to help.

Not running RW at all, uninstalled 2 months ago and not missed.

Running MSTS and beta testing for Auran.

Run RW because it is pretty. AI can't couple/de-couple so very limited there. Add in AI issues to knock it down some more. Finish it off with some signal problems. BUT, am addicted to trying to make it as visually realistic as I can. It is pretty. Trainz ain't so pretty. Colors too strong(cartoon look), the Sun thing is a pain(some textures super bright) along with the restrictive Compass. BUT, you can do so many AI things with it vs. RW that I use both.

I tried it for a while, but went back to MSTS. It's not my cup of tea,at this point in time.

Is Trainz coming out with a new graphic engine?
