Just been across to the RS America site and it is all down, including the forums. Does that mean it is finally gone for good Rich or just maintenance as the message declares?

RSA is down for good. What I did was purchase a domain for RailWorksAmerica.com so when the new software comes out with the new name, everything will match. Didn't seem to make sense having a forum called RailSimAmerica about Railworks, I thought. However, this is the tricky part and why we took the forum down like we did, I'm hoping we can move the old forum into the new forum so it's not a do-over. A new site will need to be developed and I'm gearing up for a new route so this could take longer to get done.

This is a great move!!!

Yes, thanks for the up-date Rich.
I'll see you on the flip-side.
RS America was one of the better sites. going to miss it.

He's lying. Actually he pushed the wrong button and blew it up, now he wants us to think he did it on purpose.

Rich,
Provided the software that runs the forums is the same between the old and the new sites, it will literally be a cut and paste for the messages.
Just make sure that Jim and Dugan are nowhere around when you're doing this, I hear they have a thing for big explosions

Hi Clinton, you doing okay?
I didn't follow you on the cut/paste thing. You mean we just can't switch out the forum databases?

There is a little more to it than just cut & paste. Some edits need to be done in the Admin section of the existing forum, then a back up of the existing database and forum files, then create a new database under the new domain name, and the database has to be named the same as the old database. Then install the forum software on the new domain, upload all the files, plus the database back up, then do a restore of the database from the old forum.
Sounds more complicated than it really is.

Hawk,
I understand it isn't easy, I was just implying it could be done without losing information already. Still easier than building routes with MSTS, I'm sure we'll agree

Rich,
I'm doing okay, just a few days away from the end of all my troubles, or the start of new ones. It's almost over. Soon as I get myself settled, I'll be able to help more, if you need it. Phone number is in a PM to you.

We can most assuredly agree on that.
I wasn't trying to belittle you or your comment. Just adding a little more to it, mainly to let Rich know I have a handle on this, since he hosts his site with me and I'll most likely be the one doing it.
