Preliminary running of the Surfliner Trainset is fantastic.

I've been in the cabs of many locos (ran a few also!), but not the Surfliners. Only comment is that, while maybe accurate, the speedo is very hard to read in both the loco and cab car.

Also, cannot hear horn/bell in #2 view or in rear view in 'out the cab window' view. Eng sms and cab sms files appear to be alright as do the refferences to the horn and bell files. Is anyone else having this problem?

Can't wait for the whole route!

Road Foreman,
There is a patch in the Surfliner Forum that corrects a mistake I made in the sms files. If you download this patch and still notice that you are not getting the horn and bell in the exterior views, including the heads-out view, you will want to look at your system configuration for possible reasons why you aren't getting the audio. I recall seeing you post about having issues with 3DTrainStuff's GP20s. I have the same sets and am not experiencing anything that I shouldn't. Maybe try notching your hardware acceleration in Advanced Audio Properties back one notch and see if that helps. In Windows XP you can do this by going to Control Panel|Sound and Audio Devices. On the volume tab click on the Advnaced... button under the Speaker settings section, click on the Performance tab and then move the slider for Hardware Acceleration back one notch. This, sometimes, clears up and problems people are having with audio. For some reason quiet a few soundcards don't like for this slider to be set at it's maximum value. If you are still having problems (with the Surfliner, not 3DTrainStuff products) please post again and we'll figure something out.

Well.....I tried all settings in Sounds and Audio Device Properties with NO luck. So, it would appear I have another problem. With regard to the GP20s: they were normal BEFORE installation of the Surfliner set. The thing that's confusing is that ALL locos in ALL routes are now affected. On my other (older) computer with the same locos and routes (installed seperatlely.....on both computers), I do not have this sound problem. The Surfliner has not been installed there yet.

Back to the drawing board!

Certainly not by our files, since they're contained in their own folders, and thus are mutually exclusive to any other sounds in the sim. blink.gif

Well, I would certainly hope not! It is just so coincidental that this "problem" developed AFTER installation of the Surfliner set. I'm trying to find a solution to this. Someone else had a similar problem until they set their sound sliders to MAX. Mine were already at max. I've tried different settings with no luck. There's gotta be something that was altered somehow. The only change I made (I think after install) was the camcfg.dat file to reflect the modified #4 view and the modified coupling view.
Help!

Odd. Nevertheless, we'll have a look into this. FWIW, even the installer is passive; being that nothing is even written to the registry (other than the physical file footprint).

Cheers!

DeeJay and Hack:

All's well that end's well! Dan (Zollner) got me all squared away with my sound problem. Don't know why it's now working, but don't care.....it's working!!

Now I can look forward even more for the Surfliner Route to arrive.

Thanks again for your efforts.
