Cement plant. Taken from the opposite end of the previous Cement Plant pic I showed at T-S, this pic also shows Dick Cowen's Geeps, beautifully textured ready for work.

Hawkins Place. Down from the lumbermill (#15), is Hawkin's Place. Nice detailed scene. Of interest too is the branchline runs through town parallel to the mainline double track.

And a little more train action. Dick Cowen's Geeps pulling coal and cement cars behind it.

Bigger and better Rich - some excellent scene setting there - really looking forward to this release, both for running it and as a stage towards your next smile.gif

Thanks Rod!

New pics from the newest area. But first, a pic from the loop leading into the area. The loop allows the trains to gain elevation to a higher level without running the trains way off into the countryside.

Here's the map of the railroad line in the newest section. Locating each industry, except for one, is a thumbnail picture you can locate below in subsequent posts.

When you first come into the city after going through the loop the foundry is the first large industry you come to.

rgarber
The next industry is the grain mill on the opposite side of the tracks as the Foundry.

rgarber
And another industry you will serve just further down the tracks. This industry like the Foundry is on the same branchline.

Further on down the tracks along the same branchline is the textile mill. It's actually two plants in the same area. The campus is so large I can't fit the buildings into one picture.

And finally for this set of new pictures is the rootbeer plant. I gotta have some place for Dick Cowen's root beers cars a place to go!

G'day Rich,

These shots are sure looking good, looking forward to your release of this route. If I get as much enjoyment out of your new route as I do out of your previous routes then I am in for a great time.

Denis, you're in for a great time! blush.gif

New pics! I'm ready for another run on the Colton & Northern route. Yep, we got names! We got signals. We got destination markers! Commissioning day for the route is coming soon. In the mean time here's three pics I'm adding to this little gallery here.

All of these are the Colton rail yard. Ready? Let's get a shot of the caboose track first.

Standing next to these babes you get that look like they are real. There's just enough metal sheen coming off the textures to take the box look out of the image and give it that substance look. Pretty cool. Nice work Dick!

This next pic is with the yard partially populated and the Repair facility. The repair building looks very stately compared to the other buildings around it.

After this project I want to take some time and do my own track textures like I had for my MSTS routes.
rgarber
And back to the round house. Several engines were parked so I broke a rule or two getting up close to get the shot. Luckily nobody saw me so my camera didn't get confiscated.

Okay, maybe I wasn't that close and a little paranoid about it, but I did get the pic didn't I? rolleyes.gif

G'day Rich,

You sure did get the picture, The trackwork in the yard and repair facility looks so realistic. those cabooses or as we call them downunder, Guards vans that Dick has done look really good. Well done to both of you.

The quality you have achieved makes it a pleasure to look at. The route looks so detailed and lifelike as your fantastic Canton (a route, which i enjoy every day!).
The more pics I see, the more I like it. A new masterpiece by the master of route building biggrin.gif .
I am sure, my money will be well spent.

Greetings

The route looks great.

What kind of computer horsepower do I need to run the Sim?

Will my 2.2 gigahertz (duo) with Nvidia 7800 GO be able to render the sim in this route with decent frame rates?

Thanks,

- Bob
rgarber
Thanks guys, much appreciate your support! Bob, with your video card, you should be okay.

Here's a couple of new pics. To me, what fun is, is trying to make the industry seem industrial, if that makes any sense. Narrow spaces with lots of litter. That's exciting, is it not? Be sure to enlarge this one, the ribbing on Dick's box cars are awesome!

This shot took some doing as I had to get the 4 engines to sit still and smile pretty. Unfortunately, when the clouds roll in with RS, they roll in with a vengenance. I didn't stick around for the cloudburst but I'm sure it hit hard.

The past couple of days has been slow going. I've been ballasting the track. Here's three pics to explain what I mean. This has mostly been an experiment. Up close it looks pretty good. But as you back off it becomes pretty apparent I'm not very good with a brush!

Excellent Rich - geting better and better. This sim is so much easier on the texturing - being able to texture directly into the editor/game makes it possible to judge exactly what you are getting.

Rod

Thanks Rod! smile.gif I long thought if we had something where we could paint onto the ground texture with MSTS that it would drastically improve the immersion factor of our routes.

Okay, new pic. Just something I wanted to capture for posterity.

These details along the route, the textures and realistic atmosphere are just unbelievable!
Your pictures show how much potential lies in RS.

Do you already have an approximate date of completion?

Thanks Klaus! smile.gif I'd like to think early February but this year seems to be my year for needing repairs done around the house which is taking some time away from being focused strictly on getting the route done when I say it will be. I'm hoping in the first two weeks of Feb. but please don't quote me! Something else might break!
