Earlier today I went out in search of the MFWSA train with 1996, 1988, and 1982 that Kyle had previously caught, but after learning of its departure being tomorrow I just decided to head to Taylor Yard and see what I could see.

A small bit into the yard were 3 CNW hoppers. A solid green one, a yellow one, and a former Rock Island one. Instead of the usual bankruptcy blue paint however, this hopper was in the sand colored paint with an italicized ROCK ISLAND. I don't think I've ever seen one of these- patched or unpatched, so I grabbed a shot and a side-on.

Further down in the yard, nearby the Amtrak depot there sat a lone GP60 in perfect roster lighting, sporting next year as a road number. It was one of those times I wished I had a wide-angle lens and a DSLR rather than the S3 that I sport now, as there was a pile of clutter obstructing the shot. sad.gif

So I didn't end up seeing 3 of the heritage ACes, but I did end up seeing 2 other surprises smile.gif

When the Rock went belly up the CNW went on a buying spree, hence the two markings on that gem. I used to watch train after train of old Rock equipment roll down the EJ&E back then in amazement, cars and locomotives. The CNW was cash poor and the neglected junk that the Rock had was just what the cheap CNW needed to get by wink.gif

Nice shot on the geep smile.gif
