Rochelle, Illinois. Trains Magazine "Hotspot". Crossing of the UP & BNSF mainlines. Living north of Rochelle in Rockford (20 to 30 minute drive), I have frequented Rochelle since the early 70's. Much variety can be found there, but in recent times the mundane SD70s and multitude of late model GEs can get quite boring. Here are a few shots taken from last Saturday afternoon in roughly a 3 to 4 hour timespan.

Right out of the oven on the BNSF side, you should have heard the horns on this unit, it sounded like the new ACes. I wonder if BNSF has made a change on there horns on the latest GE junk?

This eastbound was holding short of the diamonds by UP into Global and welding on the actual diamonds, check out the second unit

Nice shots! A lot of classic power in those shots. Do you have any close-up shots of that center cab switcher back there? :?

Oh, it sure has its merits but I have to say that I never figured at 54 years old I along with Patrick were the youngest guys there. I think a pharmacy would go well in the old train store laugh.gif

One note, they were working on Burlington Junctions S4, it looks like they had just put the radiator back in wink.gif

Ron: I hate you for shooting that ATSF consist.

Please note all the SD75s still say Santa Fe on the side. That is next to impossible to catch.

That's just as upsetting as missing two ATSF SD75Ms the other night on Q CHIDEN. That actually ran out the ATSF main. Leader was 8219. Still says Santa Fe on the nose and side like those above...
