I was driving to the UP Yard Office today and caught this little gem sitting in the yard.
Did UP do this to remain copyrights to the logo? Or did a Foamer put it there? Who knows, either way I think it looks great.

Cheers!

MY GOD, what is that thing! I't can't be an F7A, they don't have mufflers or milk cans on the roof! With all that extra artillary on top, it looks like one of the CN 'Southern ontario Snowblower' F7Au units!
http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?...9492&nseq=3As for all of this decal shooting, power to ya! Long live the Southern Pacific!

FP9Au. Ex- VIA 6304. Then bought by PPCX (dont know the real name of the company) and used on the return of the California Zephyr excursion over Donner pass in 2004(?). And used again by TUT for the NRHS Convention special to Portland from Emeryville in 2005, which it was painted into SP Black Widow colors for (as you see here). On the way to portland they stopped to go to McCloud on the McCloud RR, and on the way back to the UPRR the next day after some time in McCloud, an air brake gasket failed disabling the locomotive. So the special continued without it, leaving it at Shasta City. After that PPCX fixed the brake issue and it was sent to CEECO in Tacoma and sat for quite some time with an Event recorder issue and another one i cant recall, then sold to MRLX (not associated with Montana Rail Link...but not 100% on that). And now on lease to Idaho & Washington RR. So, it runs, infact, according to a friend of mine, it pulls just as hard, if not harder than that GP30 behind it...
EDIT: MRLX stands for Mid America Railcar Leasing.

Very nice photo!
I remember when I was in New Mexico. I remember seeing some unpatched Southern Pacific, Missouri Pacific, and Southern Railway freight cars.

As me being one of the biggest Southern Pacific fans around. Here are a couple shots of some SP locomotives that I caught in Los Angeles when on Vacation on April 18th, 2008. The pics were taken at City Of Industry.

I thought they were all gone until I caught unpatched SP SD45 8584 in Houston last February. See the pic at Trackside Productions.

I loved the first scheme better than the second
