Clif and I went to the hill today to catch some action. Cajon was on a maintenance time out so we headed for Beaumont via San Timoteo Canyon. The UP had 'em stacked up five and six deep waiting to get into Colton. Lots of modern power and lots of doublestacks. Here's the only thing this old '60's railroader found interesting enough to point a camera at - Mr. Harris himself in the Kelsey 'rednose' Rav4. I haven't got the silver, yellow and black paint on it yet.

In the distance you can see one train stopped right on the block of the one ahead. It isn't SP Tunnel Motors but it's pretty good railroadin'! tongue.gif

What is not seen is in the back its my trusty daily mode of mobility. My ever faithful Rolonda. For those who don't her; she's my wheelchair. Thank you Mr. Kelsey You have made this very good year already. Yup we saw lots of SD70M's, a few Dash9's Some AC's even one C45. The shortest train we saw was a paltry 1.3 mi long. It was a very good day biggrin.gif foof.gif. Then good ol' Clif sees an SD70AC and thinks it's a GEVO. Well the front of it looked the same blush.gif tongue.gif

Funny! Clif and I talked about that after I took the shot, laugh.gif but it was the only way I could get him and the trains in the same view.

Man if I'd have thought about it we could have called you in mid pace using the BlueTooth in the Rav and made you guys just wet yerselves! laugh.gif foof.gif

Yep, that's two of you old foofs I've met face to face in the last two months, Clif and John. Some day I'll have to meet the Kelleher's! The weather will have to be better back there first.

Kevin and Sean, did you notice the conditions for our trip yesterday? Sunny. Warm (75 degrees). Shirt-sleeve weather. Crystal clear. Just another bitter winter day in Southern California. tongue.gif

I hope that is the kind of weather when my fiancee and I are out there on vacation from April 12th to the 20th, But with the luck I have had lately. It will probably rain on the 13th (Disneyland), 16th (Tehachapi) 18th and 20th (Long Beach Grand Prix).

The thing that I am really looking foward to is pigging out on some double doubles at In-n-Out. Now, That is something the weather cant ruin. lol.....

My first trip home in 7 years excluding the business trips.

Thats another very good place to chow down at. We will be in Hollywood on Tuesday of that week as she wants to see the sights of Hollywood like the Mann Theater and so forth. Most likely, We will stop there for a burger unless the Tommie's that I went to in El Monte is still there. If so, Probably stop there sometime in the middle of the week as we will be staying at a hotel on Colorado Blvd in Pasadena.

I also have plans to go to my favorite sub shop called The Hat sometime in the middle of the week to get a pastrami. Damn, Now, I am getting hungry. lol.....

Anyone willing to send me 2 double doubles via snail mail to Massachusetts?

Alright, who jinxed ME? Looking out my window at that white stuff they get here occasionally - about three inches of it. There were 5" at dawn this morning, but it warmed up enough for the precip to liquify and start washing the other stuff away. In fact, it warmed up so fast, the rain wasn't that "freezing rain" junk that coats everything with ice, (Thank Goodness) but NWS-GSP is saying we might get some more sleet or snow friday night & saturday.
