Over the holidays, I was looking through my parents-in-law's photo albums and found these two snaps that were taken in Ottawa in 1974.

Oops! huh.gif unsure.gif Here is the second shot-
CP Air was one of many sister companies of CP Rail during the '70's & '80's, the Multimark years. I believe it was taken over by Air Canada about ten years ago.

yeah i remember reading somewhere that CP used this to ship worldwide... instead of putting their valuable freight on, and pay a different company, they saved the money and shipped it themselves. They had connections to Britain, Germany, China, Russia, and I think one or two African countries...

Very interesting, never knew there was a CP air!

That is very interesting that CP had an air system and about its ship system I know that some of its ocean liners had the word Empress then the name of a country or a continent. For example Empress of Ireland and Empress of Asia.

Seems like CP Air also had some DC-10's didn't they?

IIRC didn't the Santa Fe have an airline as well (or at least planes w/ Santa Fe lettering??)
USRailFan
And then of course we have Pan Am who went from being one of the biggest airlines in the USA (not to say the world) to a small regional railroad in the northeastern USA...
