Okay, I realize I'm probably missing something obvious in the doc files but how do I convert a low nose into a hi-nose? I know they both use the same texture files. But what if I want to base some repaints on a single D3D GP38-2 and some of them will be hi-nose and some will be short nose. Is this possible? If so, what do I need to do?

Hi Jim,
The high-nose versions of the GP38-2, GP40-2 and SD40-2 each are separate models, and are oriented differently than the low-nosed versions. The GP38-2 and GP40-2 do use the same texture maps, but have regions on the GP381 template for the high short hood mapping. The SD40-2 has an additional texture (SD383) for the high short hood.

Okay, so if I wanted to make a hi-nose CSX GP38-2 I would use the .s, .sd and .eng files from the NS model and move over the skins I had painted using the low nose model.
Does that apply to the direction of the long nose or short nose of each model? The reason I'm asking is I noticed on the NS hi-nose GP38-2 that as you look into the windows, the control stand actually faces the short nose end however when you place it in a consist the long nose is forward. The 1 cabview gives the the perception of looking down the length of the long nose not the short nose.

now I have a question chip - If i wanted to make a SCL GP40-2 from the skin of the Ken wright Model then It would be a simple matter of moving the texture maps from the GP38-2 over with the GP40-2 shape files?

Thanks, I appreciate the kind words...needless to say, a lot of thanks goes to the folks here for providing such outstanding material to work with.
Once I get a good representative selection (2 - 3 roadnumbers of each piece of motive power used) from the Norfolk Southern roster I plan to head back over to the CSX side and finish up some more there.
I just purchased 3D Canvas Pro with hopes of creating some of my own original rolling stock to go with them. Don't hold your breath though...I'm just starting on some of the tutorials.

That is what I've been doing...
Also, the Shape File Manager suggestion worked as well on switching the equipment direction. I still need to work through the view edits though as they seem to be a little off after making the changes.

More Chessie and N&W. I generally use the Chessie\N&W era for my activities and I can always use more of each.
I have a question for you, are the NS engines set up to run long hood forward?

The GP38-2s and GP40-2s are set to run long hood forward. The GP9s I believe are all short hood forward. This is based on pictures I've looked at in which those roadnumbers were actually seen running long or short hood forward as applicable.
I have another set that I am working on of the low hood GP38-2's that are short hood forward as well as a set of high hood GP38-2's that are long hood forward. After that I'm going to the GP40-2s.
I've got several post-Conrail merger pics that I think I may toss in as well. But those will have to wait for now.
I can't promise the Chessie repaints but I was planning some N&W repaints for Werner's Lehigh Valley Route. Shouldn't be too long.

Thanks. If Richard ever gets the signals straight on the P&WV or the guy gets them stright on the Hampton Norfolk I use them in some activities.
