I've been making good progress in Zanesville and though it was worrisome to level a city as big as Zanesville, it really needed a overhaul. Much of the city has been rebuilt and I'm making good swift progress so I decided to do a test run through the steel mill. The closest start point was Zanesville Yard and so I proceeded from there. I grabbed a couple of Canton engines with a consist of 16 fully loaded coal cars and off I went. It didn't take too long to reach the bridge over the mainline so I slowed the engines down readying for the descent to the switchback leading to the steel mill. I rounded the bend and took this picture.

The next place of interest was the switchbacks where I uncoupled from the train and used the wye to turn the engines. How nice it would have been to have mstsbin so I could have just switched cabs, right? Anyway, I began the descent heading face forward into the steel mill. I reached the mill and tried to find the best pictures to take and keep an eye on what's going on ahead of me.

Orders are that you keep the speed to a slow crawl but what caught my eye was how the complex dwarfs the train.

I only had enough interest in running the train through this area enough for one more picture. Observant eyes will notice when the route is released that I have Zanesville divided off into groupings of densities. At this point in the reconstruction of Zanesville I now have to focus on tying the densities together and at the same time keeping the scenes divided. Model Railroaders will know what I'm talking about. So back to work... hope y'all enjoyed the pics.

I am really really looking forward to this upgrade. Ohio Rail has always been one of my favorite routes.

Wow!!!!......looks great!!! Those long mill buildings really look convincing Rich!

I have an open hearth building (used on buffalo southern and lehigh valley) with detailed interior that you can use...these are sufficiently finished and are freeware to use on this route.
Might be able to throw in a semi finished Basic Oxygen furnace building that you could use as well....

Bill and I actually already spoke about this. We don't think it can be done. There's something like over three hundred activities for the Ohio Rail route and to accomodate Bill's steel mill structures I would have to redo the trackwork for the steel mills. That could be very unhealthy to those 300+ activities so the old steel mills have to stay. And the same goes for the Rolling Mill both at Delaney and Zanesville. - Rich

Well, phooey! But that's how it goes.
I hope Bill's Mills can show up someplace, someday!
(now I'm off to find Sarahville!)
