JV,
Look in your 3DTrains_GP9_BN directory and open the GP9_BN_1978.eng file with WORDPAD. You probably already knew that, but just making sure here. Scroll down approximately 4/5ths of the way and look for the following entry:
EngineBrakesControllerDirectControlExponent( 1 )
If you can't find it add it just below this line:
BrakesEngineControllers( "Independent, Train, Dynamic" )
If that doesn't cure your problem check to see that you have the following entries just as I have them:
AirBrakesAirCompressorPowerRating( 2.9 )
AirBrakesMainMinResAirPressure( 14.7 )
AirBrakesMainMaxAirPressure( 140 )
AirBrakesMainResVolume( 8 )
AirBrakesAirCompressorWattage( 14500 )
AirBrakesCompressorRestartPressure( 134 )
AirBrakesAirUsedPerPoundsOfBrakePipePressure( 1.4 )
AirBrakesIsCompressorElectricOrMechanical( 1 )
EngineBrakesControllerMinPressureReduction( 6 )
TrainBrakesControllerMinPressureReduction( 6 )
EngineBrakesControllerHasProportionalBrake( 1 )
EngineBrakesProportionalBrakeLag( 0.9 )
EngineBrakesControllerMaxApplicationRate( 7 )
TrainBrakesControllerMaxApplicationRate( 5.5 )
EngineBrakesControllerMaxReleaseRate( 14 )
TrainBrakesControllerMaxReleaseRate( 3.4 )
EngineBrakesControllerEmergencyApplicationRate( 8 )
TrainBrakesControllerEmergencyApplicationRate( 7 )
EngineBrakesControllerMinSystemPressure( 15 )
TrainBrakesControllerMinSystemPressure( 15 )
EngineBrakesControllerMaxSystemPressure( 80 )
TrainBrakesControllerMaxSystemPressure( 80 )
EngineBrakesControllerEmergencyBrakeTimePenalty( 60 )
TrainBrakesControllerEmergencyBrakeTimePenalty( 60 )
EngineBrakesControllerFullServicePressureDrop( 26 )
TrainBrakesControllerFullServicePressureDrop( 26 )
The constant compressor is usually due to not having the
EngineBrakesControllerDirectControlExponent( 1 ) line added in. But sometimes the
AirBrakesCompressorRestartPressure( 134 ) figure is too high causing the compressor to keep on going...and going..and going.
If neither of the above methods cure your problem shoot me an e-mail (
dzollner@tds.net) and I'll get you situated.
Also, before doing this, are you sure you're running version 2.0b of the Geep pack you purchased? It was updated on 2/12/03. If you're not running the most current version head to the F-Unit forum and download the pack again from the Locomotive and Core Downloads sticky post you'll find at the top of the page. If you are still getting the constant compressor sound after installing the current version then try the methods above.
