A Clarification:

As stated in the Documents section within your A&O Sub's route folder, the A&M Railroad is ACTUAL. The A&O Sub is PROTOLANCED by reviving an abandoned line connecting with the ACTUAL A&M. Thus, the A&O Sub is a (believable?) mix of FACTUAL and FANTASY.

Clear as mud? blink.gif

Just show how good of a "PROTOLANCED" job you did there Andre. I guess I need to see if I can find the photos from Springdale from about the 1988-1989 time frame. There was former D&H power there....as well as some former BN and SCL power that were parts donors. Though the photos aren't award winning. laugh.gif

“Proto Lanced” smile.gif that is what makes MSTS really exciting for me! Seeing long gone rail lines, coming back to life, in a modern form! My North Carolina Branch will be an example of this.

Love your route Andre!! w00t.gif I really like how you updated the big bridges, just enough to keep them serviceable, and you can tell that the girders are relatively new, compared to the piers! NICE TOUCH!

Now to show some of you “fact or fiction” folks the TRUTH!! And it is FACT!! Take a lookie down here!!

A post card, showing the “narrows" back in the day.

And check out the five open platform/open side streetcars there by the depot. I knew Eurka Springs had a street railway operation to move folks up and down the hill side to and from the Hotels & the depot; just didn't realize they had several cars. I'd have to go look, but there is a video (who's name escapes me right now) that has about a 15-20 second clip of one of ES's streetcars rounding a curve in a switchback. I wonder just how many cars they would have had. With all the folks and that many streetcas there by the station it gives me the inpresion that either the train has just left or is due very soon. Neat photo link you posted there.

Andy,

Great info! From those pics it is amazing how close to reality the A&O route is.

Thanks for sharing,

When I was an undergraduate I worked on an early educational TV show on economics. For one of the shows, we got hold of some film footage, shot by Thomas Edison while on a cross country trip with Henry Ford, that showed the Eureka Springs trolleys in action. It was interesting to watch the little cars climb the steep hills in Eureka Springs.
I have no idea how to relocate that footage.

Bill that might be the same footage I saw...or at least where the clip came from. Knowing a little about the Ozarks of today and times past...that would have been a dandy of a trip in an old Model T going to Eureka Springs. laugh.gif
