Just learning how to scan slides to digital via my recently acquired scanner. Though not as crisp as when viewed on the wall, it's still a way that I can go through my trays and boxes of slides for usable texture stuff!!

Expect to see some of my slide textures in VSC products eventually!

Beautiful shots Andre - particularly like #1 & #2.

Nice to see shots of the A&O stock prototypes biggrin.gif. Could do with some more just as background interest for the route. Please post some more when you can find the time

I know that the 2nd and 3rd A&M are dated along with the one of the RS3m at Ft. Smith railroad. That RS3m has been gone for at least 7 or 8 years (not sure where it when-wasn't scrapped here); and the double decker bus in the back ground-not sure what happened to that thing. The reason I say the 2nd & 3rd A&M photo are dated...those little ore cars they were using for sand service were scrapped almost 10 years ago at the Ft. Smith yard. They are now using larger cars to carry the sand up the mountain. Sand on the real A&M is the bread and butter just like the rocks on the A&O. It all comes out of Van Buren and most of it goes to North West Arkansas. But some of it goes onto the BNSF for delivery to Springfield, MO. Van Buren is on the Arkansas River where they drege the sand, the cheapest sand in the area and thus it's worth the effort for A&M to drag it to NW Arkansas and Springfield. Andre, aren't slide scanners great....once ya' figure out how to get the thing to do what you want! wink.gif

According to the slide, 3/18/94.

> along with the one of the RS3m at Ft. Smith railroad.

That one is dated 2/1/93.

> the double decker bus...

Haven't a clue about that bus, guys. Sorry.

And now, gettin' up close and personal on the Ft. Smith Local as it comes to stop to do some switching at Winslow. (Dated: 3/32/88)

Hmm... someday? We would need good straight on side and front/rear shots to really do it nice.

Here's another...

Know what you're looking at?

Yup. This is BEFORE the A&M took over the BN's Central Sub. They're building their future engine house! Date is 9/86.

The early months on the A&M (maybe a year or two) were great. Lots of color and variation running about, such as ol' 411 (that you have in the A&O Sub)...

There were others, too... The L&N was represented, the Family Lines. It was great.

And one by one, the colorful fleet of fascinating Alco C420's disappeared under A&M maroon paint. Though the losses were significant, at least the A&M's scheme is one of the more classy shortline schemes.

So... with the scheme variety gone... the kicks had to be found in catching the RS1 being used in switching chores. Eventually, though, these RS1 scenes also become extinct.

Well... all for now. Enjoy!
