Andre,

When you were in Cimarron, two years ago, was 278 sitting on its bridge section by the river? We were just there a couple weeks ago and they have moved it over by the Visitor Center to do some cosmetic restoration work on it. Can't imagine why no one wanted to do the work while it was in place on the bridge!! laugh.gif

Its hard to believe D&RG ever thought they could get all the way through that canyon, even with narrow gauge! Maybe on suspended track like in Royal Gorge?!?! wacko.gif wacko.gif

Hi Bill!

I think I do recall the display in the Canyon complete with the engine. Why I didn't snap a picture of it is beyond me.

Yes, the Black Canyon was a fantastic engineering feat. However, I don't think any suspension bridges were required at all. I think early-on there were Howe Truss bridges?

Darn those reservoirs!!! (Or virtual rails would already be at Gunnison!)
