IMHO, the future of MSTS hasn't looked this bright in years. Cases in point:

I'm sure everyone has read about Open Rails Train Simulator that is being developed. This is an entirely new platform that is backward compatible and will run MSTS components. It is to be open source, so it can evolve as needed due to hardware/software evolution. Thus far, Open Rails is only to the "proof of concept" stage, but shows great promise.

Next, we have a very sharp individual that has been working on his own MSTS compatible simulator, and has made some remarkeable acheivements. For a glimpse, see this thread at Elvas Tower:

What does all this mean? It means that all of our hard work, and ongoing work (be it route, equipment, etc), has the HOPE of actually being able to be upgraded and continued to be used to begin operation with these new platforms being developed.

I don't know about you, but I find all of this very encouraging.

Welp... all for now. Off to bed!
