Hi 'Ya Troops!

Here a couple/three weeks ago a rail enthusiast from Arkansas was over our way to snap some pics of the Hillbilly Central. This fellow, David Hoge, shoots incredible pics. He was kind enough to send us some prints. I have scanned and am sharing with you here. Bear in mind that the quality in the scans is MUCH LESS than the originals. I really like this guy's compositions.

Anyhoo... we'll have a photo spread containing a small slice of life on the Hillbilly Central.

FWIW: The reason for only one motor and short trains? Simple, the GP30 done coughed up the sponge, made like a frog and croaked, i.e. "died". It's main generator and #4 traction motor are shot. It is currently in storage and is slated to go through the Watco rebuilding program. We're due another motor end of this week (hopefully).

Enough... onto the pics!

First up: Getting onto a cut behind OK Feed Mill at Heavener in preparation of heading east...

Last one. We're now in the "downtown" area (such as it is in Roosterpoot, Arkansas) gettting ready to shuffle out some empties and whatnot.

Well, that's it for now! Hope you enjoyed!

No wonder people want to be railroaders...the romance of the rails shines thru with you pics and narration.

Thanks.

What Andre doesn't tell you, after that last photo was snapped where the 1153 is passing the feed store....yours true relays to Andre (The Great Coonskin) via radio that the switch is lined up and shove 'em ahead 20 cars. At that point a problem creeps up that will leave him scratching his head poor ole me walking. A single loose wire can be so much fun. laugh.gif I sure wish David would have gotten my better side in that one photo. wink.gif

That looks a lot like the tyson factory on the A&O sub.

is that the same OK feed that is in the route?

It's a joy to see such an intrepid team at work. I enjoyed the personal shots of the famed Coonskin and Zack "the Shack". Watch yourselves out there.
